Description

Heru - Cow Bone CombTraditional Maori heru are combs worn as functional hair ornaments by both men and women. Often the decorations on pre European heru were a symbol of mana and prestige. This heru was carved by Finau Katoa from cow bone. It measures 165mm by 45mm and has a semi gloss finish.

They are commonly played by mouth or using the nostrils to produce haunting and melodious tones

It boasts very fine ornamental designs and is finished with an antique style natural onion based stain
